Day 59 Aug 24 Twin Butte to Bragg Creek

When I woke up I heard some drizzle on my tent, I was hoping that it's just a small cloud going by. When I looked out side i was not sure what's going to happen.

                     west

               north

                      east

                                       southwest

I started packing fast and cooking my oatmeal at the same time, I can't start peddling on a empty stomach.

When I got on the road it cleared a little

this is to the left of me, and moving fast

After about 20 min. dark cloud came out of the north, I kept going. By the time I got to the top of the 2nd  hill  all hell broke loose and was not sure what to do with myself haha funny now.
Heavy rain and even stronger wind, I had to put some rain gear on which i should have put on before I left. I turned around to get back to some houses i saw about 1/4 mile before, hoping to find some shelter there. It took me few min. to get to those houses, when I got there no one was home, but luckily the rain stopped by then.

I changed my clothes and made new Friend. When I was leaving this little guy wanted to come along, so I had to put him on a leash that was by the side of the house.

lucky to be alive continued north :)

When I got to Pincher Creek I went shopping to wallmart, nicest wallmart i have ever seen, if it was not for the sign I would not know I'm in wallmart, plus the prices were good too. I bought a lot of food, little worry about my bike, feels heavy 100+

I'm turning right (north) right before where that cloud is touching

Rte 22 from lundbreck to Longview

I was warned about this stretch of road at the border, it's very windy, in the winter trucks get blown off on more than one occasion.
So I turned  right before the cloud and start peddling, it's already afternoon but I feel like  that 135km will be no problem. About an hour in heavy wind picks up  followed by rain, worst than this morning.
I had my rain gear handy but not on me, I pull into the ditch by the road to hide from the wind and put it on, by the time I was done and ready to go a guy stops in a pick up because he thought that I was blown off the road.
He asked me if I was OK and then he asked if I want to throw my bike on the back of his pick up, sure I said...
He took me to Bragg Creek, the rain stopped about 1/2 hr later.
I saw one guy peddling south, I felt a little guilt but not too much because he had the wind on his back, and a some rain too.

          Bragg Creek

John said that he could take me 100 km more up north but i did not want to get too comfortable.

Canada I know you can be cold, but please break me in slowly :)))

From Bragg Creek I side track about 10 km to find a campsite.

im hoping the branches will stop the bear from getting my food.

if it's a circus bear it will take my food, undo the lock and take off on my bicycle.

running in the woods matrix style

nice and quiet, left my food and bike not too far from  the road and went couple hundred yards into the woods to set up my tent.

Day 57 West to East Glacier Montana 52 miles

When I got to campsite night before I saw this tent there, but was not sure if someone is in it or not, I was wondering if it's a biker or hiker :)
Later on when i went to the washroom I noticed a bicycle parked against it.
It was an old Pequot bicycle, judging  by the bike i figure that an old french man will come out of it...  hehe

He was not old nor French ha, but looks a little French eh?
He's name is Pat and he's been traveling for two and half years. First He started walking, then He got a Bicycle, it's more officiant with the bike.

Went to look at the lake, then grabbed a cup of coffee and went to drink it by the Logan Pass sign

        Going to the Sun Road

 Logan Pass here I come

This reminds me of Break Neck Ridge in Hudson Valley NY, awesome hike!

                                 Fully warmed up :)

walk in the park so far...

there was some road work going on

     traffic caused by road construction

Out of all the mountain passes I went thru Logan was def. not the toughest one, It was long, but steady 6% or less and most beautiful one.

Once I got to the top I went for a hike to Hidden Lake

                         Hidden Lake

                           Mountain Goat

       Last pic before heading East

20 maybe 30 min. down hill

About 5 min. after i arrived at my campsite Pat pulled in, in Glacier Park you can take a shuttle bus from campsite to campsite or hike you want to do for free, they take your bike too.
