When I left The farm my plan was to go to Pierre and then go west to Rapid City but because of heavy wind I decided to go thru Cheyenne Indian Reservation, some people told me to avoid going thru there, but Laren's father at the farm told me that no one is going to bother me there and I thought he was right, because old dudes like him know it best!
After I crossed the Missouri River I also crossed my 2nd time zone woo hoo!
About 10 Miles from the bridge i met John from Long Island NY. After that there was not much going on, I stopped at two houses to fill up on water. At one stop a guy named Clay told me that if I see a rattle snake don't go messing around with them because they bite you hehe, it was funny how he said it with mouth full of chewing tobacco.

When i got to Eagle Butte I was thinking about gettinga motel because it was getting dark and i heard some stories about gangs and weekend drinking (it was saturday) but 1st I went to a gas station and asked around, some lady told me to try public park, or two churchs not too far from the gas station.
I did not want to go to public park so I tried the church, at the 1st one I talked to the pastor and she said No, so I went to next one.
These are two Mormon missionaries that helped me out getting a campsite by their church, they called the President and he said sure no problem, but I had to be out by 5am because that's when the sprinklers go off.
Mr. President, the sprinklers don't go off at 5am but midnight, and because I figured that I be out of there before that I didn't even put my outer shell on my tent on, so at midnight I'm running around in my underwear tring to move all the stuff. Finally I did, everything was wet and I was pissed ha ha.
After moving everything to other side of the yard I went back to sleep, about 20 min. later I'm getting wet again, next section went on, this time I took my water bottles and stuck them on top of sprinklers and went to sleep. It's funny when i think about it now.

ReplyDeleteSorry, Wes, but I am Laughing Out Loud too! I had a day like that myself. They told me the wrong time, luckily it started at the other end of the park I was in and I heard them and packed up and out before they made it to me! What an adventure you are having!!! :)
