Day 40 Aug 5 Devils Tower and Gillette 60 miles

Today is a big day for me, I got guide and I'm going to climb The Devil's Tower :))))
We were up at 4 am, it gets hot later in the day so it's better to start as soon as possible.  Drove 5 miles to the tower, hiked up to the base and by 5:45 we were climbing, it took  as 3.5 hrs to go up and come down.
We did it in 5 pitches

The climb we did is called  Durance 5.7

After the climb we went for some beers and then i took off to Gillette, that's where i was staying tonight with Steve and Mary from warmshower.org

  3. This is awesome!!! Looks like a amazing climb.
5.7 is not a picnic especially if you need to do 5 pitches.
3.5 hours, wow great time, but I guess after 40 days of paddling you legs are like a rock.
I’m glad that you had a chance to do that.
Trip is getting better and better……

  5. I hated andy as a guide he is an amazing climber but he has no social skills at all. He also brought my group up devils tower without looking at the weather because it started to lightning and thunder while about 300ft up. Most scary thing ever and he had nothing to say about it other than dont touch the wall.
