Day 37 aug 2 Breakneck WY to Wonder view WY 108 miles

Plan for today was to get to Spearfish highway, i heard a lot of nice thing about it, i was on the road by 7am, peddling was still very hard.  Night before i thought i was just tired but on the morning even with the wind I'm doing OK.

nice rack he?

And I'm back in South Dakota, I like it here :)

When i got to the top of this hill i realized why peddling was harder then usual, my first pass.
From there it was down hill all the way to Spearfish highway and after that the road thru the Canyon was also down hill, what a great ride it was!!!

I got a flat as soon as i started descent from the pass, front is much easier to fix, i don't have to flip the bike over.

From here the Canyon started

brook trout, lots of it

And back to Wyoming where the west begins. For the rest of the day I wanted to get as close to Devils Tower as possible and by dusk i was about 10 miles from it. I found a place to pitch my tent behind abandoned  Community Hall.
When entered  Wyoming I got caught in a heavy rain fall with hail plus i had sun in my eyes ha ha.

  1. I am surprised by a high elevation of this pass. It is actually higher than the Logan Pass I was reading about. I guess the vertical gain on the climb might not have been so dramatic, but still quite a challenge.
