Day 19 July 15 Back Bay UP to Luce County UP 104 miles

It was a very loud night, the rain hitting that metal  roof was making a lot of noise. Didn't feel like making coffee so i packed everything and went to look for a place to buy one, beside i didn't want to stay there too long in case someone showed up.

So the plan for  today is to go along the south shore of Lake Superior, but plans like this change all the time.

Only a few miles down i found a place in Indian Territory aka Indian reservation, had some coffee and asked the lady about the road along Lake superior, she said it's very scenic, but i have to be careful because they had a fire there not to long and there could be more animals (bears) roaming around.
When she was telling me that all i could think of was the cartoon "Lion King" how at the beginning all the poor  animals were running and tripping over each other :)
Went to the toilet, filled up my water bottles and i was ready to face the danger, hehe
Jay told me that when dogs chace him he sprays them with water, i do it to a bear.

1st ever Casino in Indian reservation 1982 i think

On the way to paradise

Upper Peninsula, being here  gives me the feeling of deep wilderness

Before i got to Paradise i stopped to talk to rangers and ask about the condition of the road along Lake Superior, i was glad that i did, They said for about 15 miles the road was dirt and mostly soft sand. So when i got to Paradise i had to change my route.

consolation prize, lower Tahquamenon Falls not too dramatic :(

About 1/2 hour before  i got to Newberry I met this guy, this is Balthazar he is from Brooklyn NY a teacher, he is traveling from Seattle to Main so far  6 weeks on the road. It was really nice to see someone doing the same thing, we were really happy to meet each other. Talked for a while exchanged some info and so long.

Hey Balthazar, so which way you went, Canada or Michigan/Canada.
We have to get together for a beer when I'm on east coast.

By afternoon i found this campsite, I started setting up my tent but Maxine offered to use her 2nd camper that she uses for guests and grand kids, it was nice because i did not have to pay and it's nice to sleep a couple inches above the ground once in a while.

This kid speared this fish, 43.5"
